Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe nació en Wellington, Nueva Zelandia el 7 de abril de 1964, y desde muy niño ha vivido en Australia.

Su carrera comenzó en el cine de ese país, realizando algunos papeles de poca importancia, hasta que en 1992 tuvo su primer rol principal, en el film Romper Stomper, con el que comenzó a ganar reconocimiento por parte de la industria aunque aún no se daba a conocer por un público masivo.

Gracias a este film, las puertas de Hollywood se le abrieron y consiguió sus primeros papeles en películas de bajo presupuesto y poco éxito en la taquilla. Uno de esos films, The quick and the dead, le permitió trabajar junto a Sam Raimi, Sharon Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio y el legendario Gene Hackman.

De allí en adelante su estrella ha crecido y lo ha llevado a participar en algunas de las películas más importantes de los últimos años, incluyendo a Gladiator, A beautiful mind, Master and Commander: The far side of the world y The insider.

Crowe ha sido nominado al Oscar como Mejor Actor en tres oportunidades, obteniendo la estatuilla dorada en el 2000 por su interpretación de Maximus, el general convertido en esclavo en el épico de Ridley Scott, Gladiator.
